VOODOO RANGER 1985
A featured winner in the Denver 50 (Ad Club Colorado)
Perfect for every 80s kid who wanted to relive this decade, Voodoo Ranger created a limited IPA called 1985. I had the pleasure of working alongside those at Fact & Fiction to come up with the social launch campaign. We played on 1985 pop culture themes and pulled at the nostalgic heartstrings of Voodoo Ranger’s dedicated followers. Below are videos which were created to promote the launch of the beer, a packaging stunt I designed in everyone’s favorite retro-style metal lunchbox and examples of a few social posts. Enjoy the neon!

The Launch Video
To transition from Voodoo's last limited IPA of Starship, I helped in the creation of a video where 1985 would make his first appearance. With nods to Astroids and Space Invader, this was the perfect way to launch 1985s debut into the Voodoo Ranger rotation.
Packaging Stunt
What better way to house some cold 1985s than in a retro designed metal lunch box. Throw in some neon shades and a koozi and we are good to get fellow Voodoo fans clambering to win this one of a kind throwback to carry around their favorite beer in. Below is the lunchbox + swag pack I designed to be given away on Voodoo Ranger’s instagram.
Static Social Posts
In addition to videos, I helped ideate, design and create static social posts to go along with our 1985 campaign.
How It Came To Life
1985 was one of the most popular limited release IPAs with our campaign garnering hundreds of fan comments and nostalgia-holic appreciation.
FAN COMMENTS

The Video Process
After selling in a potential video script with image swipe and a paragraph write-up, storyboarding with sketches is a good extra measure to ensure client approval before moving forward with having our illustrator and then animator bring the video to life. Below is an example of a storyboard with scene descriptions which I sketched out for a 1985 video entitled, “Stuck In The 80s”. The final animation has been featured above for you to watch.
The Illustration + Colorization Phase
From the above sketch and storyboard, our illustrator, Sean, is brought in to bring it to life with color. He ensures that his drawings have separate layers which our animator can later use to create movement and the magic of our final animation.
